Heading Back to Trail

After a long hiatus, I am very happy to announce that Girl Gotta Hike is heading back to trail.  Yaaaayyyy!!!!

Since the start, the goal of Girl Gotta Hike has always been to connect others with nature, to educate them on how to hike safely and to create a sense of community. The idea to lead hikes was born out of my love of the trail, but during this period of social isolation, I have come to realize more than ever, that the heart of it all is in the hikers and the friendships made along the way.

It’s the bond created between those who experience an adventure together that I really miss. And while live streams and Zoom calls are a blessing in some ways, it’s the real, in-person connections that I have missed most.

So Girl Gotta Hike is re-opening hikes, because after nearly four months of navigating a global pandemic, I feel the mental and physical health of myself and this community are in need of an uplift. The city is opening back up, some are returning to work and people are heading outside anyway, so I invite you to come along with GGH.

In order to ensure the safety of everyone, I’ve established a few new protocols, ammended some procedures and added more opportunities to get outside.

Group events will now feature:
•  Fewer participants with most hikes capped @ 5 hikers
•  Visits to more remote or lesser traveled trails
•  Additional weekday hiking opportunities to thin the crowds at more popular locations

Camping trips will:
• Encourage the use of a participant's personal camping gear when available and utilize the brand new single-person backpacking tents GGH has invested in, when not
• Forgo group cooking and shared gear when possible, teaching individual cooking methods instead

Additional information:
• All hikers will be required to eSign participant information, COVID-19 and Liability Waivers in advance
• Payments to be made digitally through website or Venmo
• It is central to the GGH mission that the once-montly Public Transit Series Hikes remain an affordable and accessible option for all hikers, but are moving from a donation basis to a fee of $25 to keep them viable

I truly cannot wait to hit those trails again with you, my amazing Girl Gotta Hike community! I've already had the pleasure to lead a few custom-crafted hikes this season and they have been an absolute blast! So sign-up, stay-tuned and hope to see you out there … at a distance of 6-feet, of course!
