There are 35 peaks in the Catskills over 3500 feet, and twelve of them are off-trail bushwhack hikes, making for a unique and challenging outdoor experience. Hike ‘em all and you’ll earn a patch and recognition as a Catskill 3500 Club Member!

Distance: 6.5 miles

Rating: Challenging – terrain is primarily off-trail and involves some use of hands; best for those who are up for an adventurous day, both physically and mentally

Estimated Hiking Time: 7+ hours (including breaks)

Inclusive of: Expert support from female New York State Licensed Guide(s), gear check-list upon signup, trekking pole rental, logistical support, local knowledge of where to visit post-hike

Hike Description: On this month’s Catskill 3500 Hike, we’re heading over to the east side of The Slide Mountain Wilderness to test our skills at topping two of the toughest peaks in all the Catskills, Friday & Balsam Cap. While the mileage may seem short in comparison to other adventures, the trail-less nature of these two more than make up for it! A true bushwhack hike, we’ll have a blast working our way up and around rocky ledges, through thickets of trees, and otherwise being surrounded by nature. We’ll be so stoked to sign in at the summit canisters after all of that effort! 💪

This trip will run with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 in order to ensure the health and safety of all guides and participants. If the minimum has not been met 24 hours ahead of trip, we will reach out and refund, reschedule or make alternate arrangements. Liability Waiver and COVID-19 Policy must be completed ahead of hike in order to participate. All hikes are rain or shine.

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel 14 days or more prior to the start of your trip, you will receive a full refund, less a 10% non-refundable administration fee. If you cancel between 24 hours and 14 days ahead, you will receive a 50% refund. Anything less than 24-hours is ineligible for refund, unless trip is canceled by Girl Gotta Hike, due to dangerous conditions or any other reason.

Ride Sharing: Girl Gotta Hike encourages participants from NYC and NJ to carpool for the Catskill 3500 Hikes. Upon signup, you’ll be prompted to let us know if you have a car, or if you need a ride, and we’ll put hikers and drivers in nearby neighborhoods in touch with each other to help get everyone to trail on time.

Partial Public Transit Option: In the event there are not enough drivers to carpool from NYC, we will offer a part-public transit / part-carpool option for this trip for up to 4 hikers. Details are provided upon signup.
