Hike Description: Back in 2018, Sugarloaf Hill was the location of the very 1st Girl Gotta Hike Public Transit Series hike - so what better place to celebrate the 60th?! We’ll start and end this sweet 6-mile loop hike from the Hudson River, catching glimpses of West Point, the Bear Mountain Bridge and the Castle Rock mansion along the way. Castle Rock was built in 1881 by railroad magnate & philanthropist William Osborn “to take in the fresh air and scenic beauty of the area,” and he sure was onto something! We’ll enjoy that scenic beauty throughout the hike, but especially from our lunch break at the top. On our return to the train, we’ll wind our way through a bamboo forest and enjoy closer views of the Hudson from the lawn alongside the Garrison Institute, a spiritual retreat center.
Each Public Transit Series trip will run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 in order to ensure the health and safety of all guides and participants. If the minimum has not been met 24 hours ahead of trip, we will reach out and refund, reschedule or make alternate arrangements. Liability Waiver and COVID-19 Policy must be completed ahead of hike in order to participate. All hikes are rain or shine.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel 14 days or more prior to the start of your trip, you will receive a full refund, less a 10% non-refundable administration fee. If you cancel between 24 hours and 14 days ahead, you will receive a 50% refund. Anything less than 24-hours is ineligible for refund, unless trip is canceled by Girl Gotta Hike, due to dangerous conditions or any other reason.
Most Girl Gotta Hike events are for those who identify as female. While we appreciate all encouraging and supportive souls as friends and partners, this one is just for the ladies. Custom Adventures and select events are open to everyone.
